About the Band
Violinist Amy Zakar,
a second-generation musician born in New York
City, performs frequently on
klezmer violin and mandolin and also fiddles with the Jam Bandits.
She graduated from the Manhattan School of Music's Preparatory
Division
and has performed at Lincoln Center, Weill Recital Hall, Judson Church,
the Cathedral of Saint John the Divine, and Joe's Pub. She has composed
for musical theatre and TV.
Other pursuits include singing, piano, arranging, and speaking
Hungarian. Ms. Zakar directs a youth strings program at a New
Jersey school.
